Two people have been arrested after a horde of cannabis plants and cash was found during separate search warrants in south Auckland.

Police say 200 cannabis plants were found during a search warrant on Lisle Farm Rd, Pukekohe on Tuesday. A warrant was also executed on Waiuku Rd last week, where 135 "well-established" cannabis plants and a large amount of cash were located.

"The entire house was modified to have plants growing in every room," Det Insp Tony Wakelin said of the Waiuku Rd operation.

"Electricity had been illegally diverted and the extent of the DIY electrical work inside was a 'fire risk' waiting to happen.

"Police would ask that anyone who suspects that an operation of this nature is taking place in their neighbourhood should call police on 105 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers on 0800 500 111.

"Tell-tale signs may include large industrial fans, large lights and electrical equipment being installed, as well as a distinctive smell coming from the external fan ducts."

Police said a 61-year-old man was arrested in relation to the Lisle Farm Rd incident, charged with cultivating cannabis. A 40-year-old was arrested in connection to the Waiuku Rd search warrant.

Both are due to appear in the Manukau District Court this week.

Police said no further comment would be made while the matters were before the courts.
