A pre-teen is facing murder charges after a 62-year-old man was found dead in a Northland paddock earlier this year.
Ōkaihau local Michael John Biggins was discovered in a vehicle that had crashed into farmland off Imms Rd on the evening of September 27.
Tragically, he had died at the scene.
A 15-year-old was already before the courts charged with murder in September over the incident, but police on Monday jointly charged a 12-year-old with Biggins' murder.
He is scheduled to appear in the Kaikohe Youth Court on Monday, Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Dalzell said.
"Police continue to support Mr Biggins' family at this extremely difficult time. As this matter is before the courts, Police are unable to comment further."
