Judge rules man accused of murdering Lena Zhang Harrap fit to stand trial

The man charged with murdering Auckland woman Lena Zhang Harrap has been found fit to stand trial.

Harrap failed to return home after going out for a walk in Mount Albert in September and her body was found in bush off a walkway near Owairaka Domain.

A 31-year-old man with interim name suppression has been charged with murder and sexual violation.

In the High Court at Auckland this morning, Justice Fitzgerald determined he is able to go to trial.

The man's lawyer Jonathan Hudson entered not guilty pleas to both charges and a trial has been scheduled for November next year.

Harrap, 27, had Down syndrome and her death prompted an outpouring of support for her family and friends.
