Police have taken a person into custody after he was seen with a knife in the Waikato town of Tuakau.

Officers were called to disorder on George St, Tuakau at 10:30am on Thursday and asked locals to avoid the area.

A worker at the nearby Chez Bean cafe said a man was seen holding a knife getting into an incident. It was reported by Stuff that the man was witnessed fighting another man.
