Two people are fighting for their lives and another three in hospital after a sickening crash on Auckland's North Shore on Friday night.
Police told Newshub they were alerted to the two-car crash on East Coast Rd in Campbell's Bay at around 10:25pm.
They were unable to share any further information on what may have caused it, citing an ongoing investigation, but said enquiries were continuing on Saturday.
Two of those involved in the incident have critical injuries and were rushed to Auckland City Hospital, St John says, while another was left in a serious condition and a fourth is moderate.
A fifth person has minor injuries and was taken to North Shore Hospital for treatment.
Newshub understands members of the public applied first aid while they waited for ambulance staff to arrive.
