A person has died in a house fire in the Auckland suburb of Avondale.
Emergency services were called to the blaze on Blockhouse Bay Rd just after midnight on Wednesday.
A police statement said surrounding residents were evacuated as a precaution.
Sadly, a person was found dead at the scene, the statement said.
Fire investigators are working with the police to determine the cause of the blaze.
