Police are investigating an incident in Gisborne where a person was seen pushing a dog off a bridge into the water below.
The incident, captured on a video posted on Reddit, shows a group of people standing on the bridge. One person then picks up the dog to put it near the edge of the bridge before pushing it off.
A Reddit user said they saw the group arrive with the dog.
"This makes me upset to see. Poor dog deserves a better owner than some asshole who'll push it off a bridge for laughs," one Reddit user wrote.
"If anyone knows this person, can you tell them some random on the internet says, 'f**k you,' said another.
A police spokeswoman confirmed to Newshub the video has been sent to them and they are investigating.
SPCA and Gisborne District Council have been contacted for comment.
