Two people have died overnight in separate car crashes.
The first died at the scene after their car went over a bank at the intersection of Colville Road and Waitete Bay Road in Amodeo Bay at around 7:30pm on Friday.
Police said in a statement on Saturday road closures will be in place for several hours in Amodeo Bay from 9am while they conduct enquiries following the fatal crash.
The second person died after their riding off the road on a motorbike and into a ditch at Kawhia Road, Otorohanga at around 3:45pm.
They died later in hospital.
Police say they are still investigating exactly what happened in each crash.
