Car submerged after driving into Auckland Harbour

A car is submerged after it drove into the Auckland Harbour on Wednesday afternoon.

Two people that were inside of the car are in a stable condition after they managed to get out of the vehicle.

Police said the vehicle was on Westhaven Drive when it went off the road and crashed into the water, but the reason why is yet unknown.

Police have said the pair are being provided with medical assistance and the police maritime unit is working to move the vehicle to a boat ramp at the marina so it can be removed from the water.

Another crash in Auckland

Emergency services have also attended a serious crash in Waitematā on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a crash on the Northwestern Motorway involving multiple vehicles, on the westbound lanes near Rosebank Road.

Police reported one person has critical injuries and the serious crash unit has been notified.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and expect significant delays, as all westbound traffic on the Northwestern Motorway is currently being diverted off at Rosebank Road.
