Man fighting for his life after being pulled out of vehicle on Waikato Expressway

A man who was injured on the Waikato Expressway yesterday after being pulled from his vehicle and assaulted is in a critical but stable condition, police say.

At about 4.45pm police received multiple reports of an altercation at the expressway south of Rangiriri, involving a number of people and vehicles, including "a significant number of motorcycles".

Police said initial indications suggested that a man had been pulled from a vehicle and assaulted.

He was taken to hospital with critical injuries.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have footage of the incident recorded on their dashcams or cellphones.
