Person seriously injured, dog struck during Napier aggravated burglary

An investigation is underway after an aggravated burglary in the Napier suburb of Taradale left one person seriously injured.

A police statement said emergency services were called to a report of a burglary in Murphy Rd about 3:25am on Saturday.

"One person was seriously injured during the incident and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

"Another person was treated for injuries and is recovering at home."

Police said the incident also led to a vehicle parked at the property being badly damaged and a dog being struck. The dog was not seriously harmed.

It's believed the burglary was a "targeted incident".

An investigation to locate those involved is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the police.

"We do not believe there is any risk to the wider public," police said.
