Police have launched a homicide investigation after the death of a man in the small village Hope, just south of Nelson.
The 56-year-old man was found dead by police on Wednesday at a rural property on Edens Road at 7:30 am.
Police said in a statement a scene examination is being carried out and is expected to last several days. Enquiries are also being carried out to establish what occurred and identify people responsible.
Police would like to speak with anyone who might have information about the incident or those involved.
