Crimewave grips Auckland: Police investigating as Panmure clothing business latest victim of ram raid

Police are investigating after an Auckland clothing store became the latest store to be targeted in a ram raid.

Police told Newshub in a statement they responded to reports of a ram raid just after 2am Monday on Queens Road in Panmure.

"Two offenders subsequently entered the store and have taken a number of items before decamping the scene in the vehicle," the statement said.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and speak to officers.

"Police are investigating to identify those involved, including reviewing CCTV footage, and speaking to witnesses," the statement said.

"Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Police on 105, quoting file number 220509/1064. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111."

Newshub footage from the scene shows shattered glass covering the footpath and the storefront ripped apart.

It comes after a Caltex service station in Māngere was ram raided on Sunday morning with the suspects still at large.

Police said a group of people had used a vehicle to attempt to gain entry to a store, but they were unable to and fled the scene.

On Sunday, the Government announced a $562 million package aimed at tackling rising crime.
