Gangland feud: Police arrest seven people after recent firearms incidents

Police have arrested seven people in connection to the recent spate of gang-related shootings across Auckland.

Police said in a statement they are committed to disrupting the gang activity across the city following the shootings.

Police said 10 warrants have been executed across the city with a number of charges being laid and some firearms recovered.

Ten charges have been laid against seven people.

There were seven shooting incidents across Auckland on Tuesday night.

The houses shot at were in Ōtara, Papatoetoe, Flat Bush, Papakura, Te Atatū, Henderson and Mt Albert.

The first four were between around 6:40pm and 7:40pm and the incident in Te Atatū was reported around 9:20pm on Tuesday evening.

Counties Manukau district commander Jill Rogers confirmed the seven shootings overnight in Auckland were gang-related involving the Killer Beez and Tribemen.

"We believe so, from the information that we have been able to put together, the address which have been subject to shootings have in the past had previous gang links to them," Rogers said.

But concerningly, at least two of the properties hit in the shootings have no ties to any gangs, which Rogers says " heightens the concern we have about this behaviour".

Rogers said high powered rifles were used in the shootings.

"I do believe that a number of these weapons that have been used are high powered rifles and that causes immense concern to us," she said.

"When we are talking about addresses that have no links to criminal activity anymore, the risk that these escalating incidents pose is enormous."

Two more house were shot at on Wednesday night, one in Mellons Bay and one in Massey.

Police said on Saturday the public can expect enforcement action following recent incidents to continue.

"The gang members involved in this violence continue to show a blatant disregard for the safety of people going about their lawful business.

"Police have no tolerance for this brazen violence that has played out in recent days.

"Our staff will continue to remain visible across Tāmaki Makaurau and we will continue to treat any further incidents seriously."
