Hunt for Christian Eteuati heads into second day

Police say they are still hunting for Christian Eteuati, the man wanted in connection to a fatal attack on a person in Mount Albert on Tuesday. 

A homicide investigation was opened on Thursday after the local man's body was found near the Roy Clements Treeway at around 6:45pm on Tuesday.

Police believe a knife was used in the "brutal attack" ad the victim was not known to Eteuati. The victim sustained multiple injuries.

In a statement on Saturday police appealed for help from the public urging anyone with information of his whereabouts to call us immediately on 111.

"We want to remind the public that he is considered extremely dangerous and he should not be approached."

"A Police presence remains in the area, and we again urge anyone who feel unsafe at all, or who sees anything suspicious, to contact Police immediately."

Eteuati is known to have links in the Sandringham and West Auckland areas, and police warn anyone concealing him could be prosecuted.

An increased police presence and a scene guard remains in place in the area.
