Man seriously injured after alleged stabbing in Auckland's New Lynn

A man has been hospitalised with serious injuries after he was allegedly stabbed in west Auckland overnight.

Police were called to a residential property on Gardner Ave in New Lynn at about 11:30pm after receiving a report that a person had been stabbed, a police spokesperson confirmed to Newshub.

"An injured man was located by Police at the property and taken to hospital with serious injuries," the spokesperson said.

A 47-year-old man is due to appear in the Waitakere District Court on Saturday.

The alleged offender was arrested soon after the alleged stabbing and has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, driving in a dangerous manner and failing to stop when followed by red/blue flashing lights.

No further information can be provided as the matter is now before the courts, the spokesperson said.
