An early morning scuffle between flatmates has caused a large police turnout in Christchurch on Tuesday morning.
Emergency services were called to a fight just after 6am at a residential property on Dunoon Place in Woolston.
Police said one person was taken into custody and another has minor injuries following the assault.
In a separate incident earlier, there were reports of gunfire after a fight broke out at a Christchurch bar.
Police said they responded to reports of a fight in the car park at the Turf Bar in Parklands at around 9:30pm on Monday.
In a statement, police said there were reports of gunshots but nobody was injured.
"Police are continuing to make enquiries to establish exactly what took place and at this stage there is no further information," police said.
