There have been multiple arrests and guns seized as part of a police operation targeting gangs in Hawke's Bay.

The operation has been ongoing for the past week, with officers executing search warrants at multiple addresses across Wairoa.

"On Tuesday, staff executed warrants at two separate addresses and two men, aged 37 and 56, and one woman, aged 41, were taken into custody," said Snr Sgt Maui Aben.

The 37-year-old man, a Mongrel Mob member, was arrested and charged with unlawful firearm and ammo possession, cannabis possession and obstructing police, Aben said.

He was due to appear in the Gisborne District Court on Wednesday.

The 56-year-old, also described by police as a patched Mongrel Mob member, faces multiple methamphetamine and cannabis-related charges. The woman was also charged with meth possession.

"A firearm, ammunition, cannabis, methamphetamine and cash were also seized during the two search warrants," Aben said.

A Black Power member was also charged with driving-related offences, seperately from the search warrants, police said. The 21-year-old man was sought for "several serious driving matters" across Hawke's Bay and was arrested on Monday.

"He is due to appear in Wairoa District Court on Wednesday, August 3 on charges relating to dangerous driving, driving at a dangerous speed, failing to stop when signalled, unlicensed driver failing to comply with prohibition and possession of utensils for methamphetamine use," Aben said.

"Police remain committed to preventing any violence and closing down the distribution of any illegal drug that causes harm to the Wairoa community," he added.
