A person has been charged with obstruction and 'misuse of a telephone' after police were called to reports of a shooting that turned out to be false.
Police were called to an address on Kiwitea St in Sandringham, Auckland at around 12:30pm on Thursday.
A police spokesperson said officers were told a person had gunshot wounds but when they arrived no one was injured and there was no gun.
The spokesperson said one person has been charged with misuse of a telephone and obstruction.
They are due to appear in Auckland District Court on June 15.
