Police launch homicide investigation following the death of 77-year-old in Onehunga

Auckland police have launched a homicide investigation after 77-year-old Maria Brown was found dead at an Onehunga address on Sunday. 

Police were called to Moana Avenue at 10am on Sunday after Brown's body was found by a family member. 

Detective inspector Scott Beard said her death is being treated as a homicide following the post-mortem examination. 

"A Police presence remains at the address however we would like to reassure the community this is believed to be an isolated incident and we are following good lines of enquiry."

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward and contact police on 105, or provide information anonymously through crime stoppers on 0800 555 111.
