An Auckland couple who were assaulted by three people while attempting to sell a PlayStation 5 to someone off Facebook Marketplace are shaken and traumatised.

The attack was so brutal that the woman is now blind in one eye after being hit so hard.

Police are investigating the attack which happened on May 25 at 10:15pm on Epping St in Glen Innes. Three offenders assaulted a person before robbing them and fleeing on foot.

"The victim is understandably shaken and is receiving medical treatment for their injuries," a police spokesperson said.

Patricia Pentecost and her boyfriend Mohamed travelled to Glen Innes to meet a prospective buyer, Stuff reported. After arriving near a construction site in Epping St, a man approached the car asking to see the PlayStation 5.

But he didn't have any money with him, so Mohamed didn't let him see the console. Two other young men then arrived and Mohamed was hit in the back of his head.

He was dragged into the street, Pentecost told Stuff, so she got out to try and defend her partner. Amid the scuffle, she was punched in the eye and "it felt like a pole smacking my face".

"I couldn't stop screaming - it was so painful, I was just crying out for help but nobody came," she said.

The pair spent the night in hospital, but Pentecost visited Greenlane emergency clinic two days later because she still couldn't see out of her left eye.

Despite getting surgery, she still can't see out of her eye. She's also angry that the offenders still haven't been arrested.

"They walked away on foot, how have they not been caught yet? I'm just really upset about it, if this happened to me as a university student, it could happen to anybody," she said.

The police spokesperson said they urge anyone with information to come forward by calling 105 and quoting file number 220525/2291. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
