A person has died after a car went down a bank and caught fire in north Auckland overnight.
Firefighters and police rushed to the crash in a remote area of Ara Weiti Road in Stillwater at around 1am on Thursday.
Police said the single-vehicle crash occurred near the intersection with East Coast Road.
"Ara Weiti Road is open but is expected to be closed again for a short period around midday while the vehicle is recovered," police said.
The fire has been extinguished and the serious crash unit is investigating.
