A person has died in a house fire in the Greymouth suburb of Cobden overnight.
Police said in a statement the fire happened at about 5:30am on Friday.
An investigation was underway to find out how the fire started, the statement said.
Police officers and Fire and Emergency New Zealand would work to conduct a scene examination, it said.
