Christchurch police arrest pair for distributing objectionable publication, failing to carry out obligation in computer search

Christchurch police have arrested two people in relation to alleged offences under the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993.

Reports circulated social media on Thursday that Kelvyn Alp and Hannah Spierer, who are hosts of far-right media outlet Counterspin, were arrested.

Police did not name the duo in their statement, but did confirm two people - one man and one woman - had been arrested.

The man has been charged with two counts of distributing an objectionable publication and one charge of failing to carry out obligations in relation to a computer search.

The woman has been charged with distributing an objectionable publication and failing to carry out obligations in relation to a computer search and obstructing police.

The pair have been bailed and will appear in the Christchurch District Court on August 31.

Police wouldn't go into further detail as the matter is before the court.
