A young family in Lower Hutt are looking to get back on their feet after their house burned down.
On Tuesday evening, a fire broke out at the family's home in Stokes Valley, Lower Hutt.
The New Zealand Herald reported the mother noticed flickering flames coming from downstairs and the family of four rushed out with their dog before the house was engulfed in flames.
The mother's sister, Tyler Ripia, has made a Givealittle page to help the whānau out.
On the page, Ripia said any help for the family would be greatly appreciated.
"They are in shock but doing okay needing some financial relief so they are able to start rebuilding their lives from scratch again as they have lost everything in the fire, they walk out with nothing but the clothes on their backs."
So far the donation page is at over $6000.
As well as losing their home, the family also, unfortunately, lost their two young kittens who are believed to have died in the fire.
The family said they appreciate any help during this difficult time.
