Lightning has struck a tree in Dannevirke resulting in someone being injured.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson told Newshub fire crews are in attendance of an incident involving lightning, a tree and an injured person. It's unclear how the person was injured.
One local Newshub spoke to was on their break at about 3:15pm, when lightning struck a tree near her work "knocking off the top".
They said Fire and Emergency and St John are at the scene.
Newshub has approached St John for comment.
