Pinnacle Midlands Health Network chief executive Justin Butcher held a press conference after the health network was targetted in a "malicious" cyber attack.
The attack hit Pinnacle Midlands Health Network on September 28 which impacted its regional offices and primary health care practices across Taranaki, Rotorua, Taupō-Tūrangi, Thames-Coromandel and Waikato.
While an in-depth investigation is underway, Butcher said it cannot confirm what data or information may have been accessed.
"We know that people will rightfully be very concerned about this and we want to ensure the public that Pinnacle takes our role as steward of people's information seriously,"
Health Minister Andrew Little told RNZ the incident is being investigated.
