Man arrested over at least 32 burglaries across Auckland

Police have arrested a man for allegedly being behind at least 32 burglaries across Auckland.

On Wednesday morning, the Auckland City East Tactical Crime Unit found a trailer attached to a vehicle, which contained a large amount of furniture travelling through Glen Innes towards Kohimarama.

"Enquiries determined the vehicle was linked to a person police were seeking in connection with at least 16 burglaries in the Auckland City District," Detective Senior Sergeant Kathy Bostock said.

Det Snr Sgt Bostock added police stopped the vehicle on St Heliers Bay Road but the driver fled the area before they could speak to him.

"On multiple occasions, the vehicle has been observed driving in a dangerous manner during morning peak hour traffic," Det Snr Sgt Bostock said.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Camp Road in Ōtāhuhu after police deployed spikes to slow the car down.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and faces several charges including burglary. He will appear in the Auckland District Court on Wednesday.

A 28-year-old woman who was the passenger in the vehicle was also arrested and faces charges which are unrelated to the burglaries.
