A man is fighting for his life in hospital and another person has been charged after a daylight attack in central Christchurch on Tuesday evening.
The incident took place at 6:20pm, sparking a large police turnout to Cashel St Mall in the CBD.
Police said the victim is in critical condition, with unconfirmed reports saying he suffered a head injury.
He is currently in Christchurch Hospital and a man is facing charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The alleged offender, 18, is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Wednesday afternoon.
