Second woman believed to be targeted by man wanted for attempted kidnapping in Christchurch

The man wanted for attempted kidnapping in Christchurch is believed to have targeted a second woman.

The man tried to drag away a woman who was jogging on Kotare St, Fendalton at 6:20am on Monday but fled when after a passing motorist got involved.

Police now believe the same man approached another woman at 6:55am Monday at the intersection of Clyde and Fendalton.

Police are urgently seeking information from the public to help find the suspect.

Detective Senior Sergeant Damon Wells said the man was observed lying down at the corner of Clyde and Creyke roads, which may have been captured by passing motorists' dashcams.

He was last seen heading north on Glandovey Road at around 7am.

Det Snr Srg Wells described the man as being possibly of Indian descent, medium-build, approximately 176cm to 179cm tall, with short black hair and a short beard.

He is believed to be between 25 and 33 years old and was wearing a dark-coloured vest over a dark t-shirt with white stripes on the sleeves and dark-coloured track pants with white stripes along the sides. His left trouser leg was rolled up to the knee.

Earlier this week police released dashcam footage showing the alleged offender running past and have now released an image captured on CCTV.
