Man collapses and dies while speaking to police in central Auckland

Police have confirmed a man has died in central Auckland on Monday morning.

At around 4am on Monday, police received several reports of a man causing a disturbance on Ronayne Street in central Auckland.

When officers arrived and began speaking with the man he suddenly collapsed and died.
Police said they're treating the death as "unexplained" and are making enquiries.

"The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death," the spokesperson said.

Police urge anyone with information about the death to come forward and speak to them.

"Anyone with information on this matter is asked to contact Police on 105 quoting file 221114/2954," the spokesperson said.

"Information can also be provided anonymously via CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111."
