Multiple vehicles have been involved in a fatal crash at Kauri, just north of Whangārei, on Saturday.
The collision happened at around 4:10pm between Saleyards Road and Richards Road on State Highway 1.
"The State Highway is currently closed and will likely remain closed for some time," a police spokesperson said.
"The serious crash unit is investigating and detours are in place. More information will be provided when it becomes available."
