Police release name of person who died in Auckland boating incident

Police have released the names of the people involved in a boating incident in Manukau Harbour earlier this month.

On November 6, five people were travelling on the boat when it capsized near Clarks Beach.

Gemma Ferregel, 39, who was on the boat, died during the incident.

A police spokesperson said her 10-year-old son, Ryder Ferregel, is still missing.

"Police extend our sympathies to their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."

The spokesperson added the family of Gemma and Ryder asked the police to release a statement on their behalf.

"We're all devastated and lost words while we grieve for Gemma and Ryder," they said.

"We would like to express our thanks to the emergency services and volunteers in the community who have contributed to the search".

The death will be referred to the coroner.
