Police launch homicide investigation after woman dies in Massey, Auckland

Police have launched a homicide investigation after a woman died in west Auckland on Monday evening.

Police said officers were called to a property on Royal Road in Massey at around 5:45pm to reports a woman had been seriously injured.

Police, Fire and Emergency NZ and ambulance staff were at the property in Massey where the woman died at the scene.

The Police Eagle helicopter was also at the scene for around half an hour.

Detective Senior Sergeant Nick Poland said police are trying to establish what has happened.

"There will be a Police presence in the area as officers conduct a scene examination and initial inquiries, which will include going to door-to-door speaking with people in the area," Poland said.

"Anyone with information about what happened who has not already spoken to Police is asked to contact Police on 105 and reference event number P052995437."

New Zealand Herald reports members of the public said they saw a body on the road and heard a woman screaming. Other witnesses have described seeing a shirtless man holding a knife.
