A police investigation has been launched in Auckland after two people were shot at a house in Māngere East on Thursday.
A police spokesperson said armed police were sent to the address on Robertson Road after officers received a report of shots being fired at 7:12pm on Thursday.
Two people later turned up at a hospital and both were in a serious condition and had gunshot wounds.
Police are investigating the incident to find out what has occurred.
"We recognise that this incident may have caused distress for those involved and for the wider community," the spokesperson said.
"Police have a responsibility to keep our communities safe. We must treat any report involving firearms seriously until we can attend and evaluate the situation first-hand.
"We would like to reassure the public that this matter is being taken extremely seriously and the protection of community is of the upmost importance."
