Conspiracy theorist Liz Gunn reportedly arrested after melee at Auckland Airport

Former TV host and conspiracy theorist Liz Gunn has reportedly been arrested at Auckland Airport after a melee on Saturday night.

Gunn and a cameraman had reportedly been attempting to film the arrival of a family who had been kept in lockdown in Tokelau after refusing the COVID-19 vaccine, according to Counterspin Media Facebook posts.

Police said they were called to the Auckland International Airport at 7:15pm after a report of an assault.

Police did not name the pair, but confirmed the arrests of a 49-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman.

A police spokesperson said the pair had been trespassed from the airport and had been summonsed to appear in court at a later date in relation to the alleged assault, trespass, and resisting police.

Counterspin claims Gunn and the cameraman were prevented from filming and had their camera confiscated.

"They were then cuffed and removed from the arrival terminal, where they spoke to police for almost an hour," Counterspin Media wrote on its Facebook page.

Counterspin Media say the pair will appear in the Manukau District Court on March 23.

Gunn released a statement on Sunday morning claiming she is awaiting x-ray results for injuries on her arm, elbow, shoulder and neck caused when she was arrested on Saturday.

Gunn is best known for her broadcast career, which started in the early 1990s when she presented the Sunday show for TVNZ

She then joined TVNZ Breakfast in the original team in 1997 alongside Mike Hosking and Susan Wood.

Alongside her TV commitments, she also worked for Radio New Zealand hosting several shows before finishing in 2016.
