A person has died after being struck by a train near Feilding on Wednesday evening.
Police said emergency services responded to the incident, near Waughs Road in Aorangi, south of Feilding at 6pm.
A police spokesperson said trains in the area were stopped due to the incident.
State Highway 54 was closed between Campbell Rd and the intersection of Camerons Line and Waughs Rd but has since reopened.
