Police hunt woman after another woman attacked on Hamilton river path

Police are urging witnesses to come forward after a serious assault between two women in Hamilton last week.

The assault occurred on the Hamilton River Path at the end of the walkway off Liverpool Street at around 7pm on Wednesday March 1.

The victim of the assault has been left with injuries and she has "understandably been shaken", said Hamilton Detective Sergeant Laura Kerwin.

"They are receiving support from Victim Support," Sergeant Kerwin said.

Police understand that the female victim was later assisted by someone cycling along the path.

"We encourage this person, and any other witnesses, to come forward and speak to Police," she said.

The attacker has been described as having "light brown skin, dark eyes about 170cm tall, of a medium build and aged around the late 20s to early 30s."

"She was wearing a tight white crop top, tight black pants, black sports shoes and her hair was tied up," Sergeant Kerwin said.

Police are urging any witnesses to step forward.

"If anyone saw someone matching this description on or neat the Hamilton River Path between 6-8 pm please report this to the Police".
