A person has died after being hit by a truck in central Dunedin this morning.
Police were called to the scene at 7:55am on Friday and the Serious Crash Unit is at the scene working to piece together exactly what has happened.
A police spokesperson said initial information indicates that a truck has struck a pedestrian, who tragically died at the scene, before colliding with several vehicles.
Road closures are expected to remain in place for several hours to allow for a scene examination to take place.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and follow the directions of emergency services staff.
