Lockdowns at two Feilding schools have been lifted following an incident relating to a stolen vehicle.

Feilding Intermediate came out of lockdown just after 1pm on Monday and Lytton Street School's lockdown was lifted just after 1:30pm.

Both schools said all of their staff and children are safe.

Police said they sighted a suspected stolen vehicle on Colyton Road in the outskirts of Feilding.

Officers signalled for the vehicle to stop but it fled from police and was not pursued.

"Police maintained observations and followed it into Feilding to the Timona park area, where it has been abandoned," a police spokesperson said.

Police said two people have been arrested and officers are working to locate any further people.

"As a precaution, the Armed Offenders Squad are attending and the nearest school has been put into lockdown."

In an update provided to Newshub, a police spokesperson said police are still in the area but haven't located anyone else.

"Enquiries into the incident will be ongoing."
