Man charged with abduction and rape in Blenheim

A man in Blenheim has been charged with abduction and rape after an incident in the town on Sunday morning.

Police said they were called to Sinclair Street in Mayfield at about 9.50am. A 23-year-old man was found on Market Street a short time later and taken into custody.

The victim is now receiving support.

The arrested man is expected to appear in court tomorrow.

Police said they did not believe there was an ongoing risk to the public.
