Police arrest 55-year-old woman following fatal Kaitaia crash involving vehicle and pedestrian

A 55-year-old woman has been arrested following a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in Kaitaia on Friday. 

In a statement, a police spokesperson for the Far North police said the woman is due to appear in the Kaitaia District Court on Thursday, charged with "failing to report an accident causing death". 

The police spokesperson said an investigation into the crash is "ongoing" and police continue to appeal to the public for information.

Police are asking anyone who was near Kaitaia's Wireless Rd between 11:30pm and 12am on Friday to contact police.

Police are also asking anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the crash, or information, to contact police on 105 and quote file number 230401/3048.

Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers via 0800 555 111.
