Video: Offenders knock Hamilton superette employee to ground as police investigate violent robbery

Waikato police are investigating an aggravated robbery at a Hamilton superette, where an employee was knocked unconscious. 

Before 9pm on Thursday night four offenders entered the store on Hare Puke Drive, Flagstaff and "assaulted an employee".

Detective Senior Sergeant Andrew Saunders said the victim was hospitalised and has since been discharged.

Now Snr Sgt Saunders wants to hear from anyone who has information and could assist police with their investigation. 

"The offenders stole cash from the till and fled the scene in a stolen vehicle before police arrived," he said.

Police later recovered the stolen vehicle in Hamilton's Enderley at about 3:30am on Friday.

CCTV footage released by police shows the four offenders chaotically running into the superette, with one offender violently punching the emplyoee in the head and throwing them to the ground.

The CCTV footage shows the employee covering their head with their hands, visibly in pain, before curling into the fetal position, while one of the offenders stands over them. 

The other three offenders can be seen raiding almost anything and everything behind the shop's counter.

Snr Sgt Saunders says police have completed a scene examination of the superette and the stolen vehicle, and now working to identify those involved. 

"We are also appealing to the public to come forward if they have any information about this incident which may assist police with their enquirie," Snr Sgt Saunders said. 

"We urge anyone saw a silver Toyota Mark X in and around the Flagstaff and Enderley areas around 9pm last to share this with police."

"We understand that this is a distressing incident that will cause concern to the wider community. police want to reassure the public that this cowardly attack on a victim offering no resistance will not be tolerated," Snr Sgt Saunders added.
