A person has been arrested after a ram raid in south Auckland overnight left the front of a dairy a mangled mess.

Police said they're investigating a burglary at a dairy on Bairds Road in Otara at around 3am on Thursday morning.

Following the ram raid, the offenders fled the scene in the same vehicle, which was tracked by a Delta unit and found abandoned nearby, police said.
