Police are appealing for information after two reports of a man allegedly approaching young people, in Te Papaioea/Palmerston North.

It's alleged the man, possibly in a white van, approached two children on Botanical Road in Tākaro last Tuesday at about 3pm.

Police say the man asked the children to enter the van, but in both cases they ran away.

No injuries were reported.

"We understand this sort of incident can cause concern and we urge the community to be alert, but not alarmed," a Police spokesperson said in a statement.

They've asked the public to get in touch if they have photos or videos of the Botanical Road area from Tuesday 9 May.
