One person has been hospitalised with minor to moderate injuries following a robbery at an Ōtara liquor store on Friday night.

Emergency services descended on Liquor Baron on Ferguson Road at about 6:20pm following reports of a firearm being discharged.

In a statement to Newshub, a police spokesperson said staff arrived to discover there had been a robbery at the liquor store.

Police say they are investigating the robbery and working to establish whether a firearm was involved.

One person has minor to moderate injures which police said are not firearms related.

Footage captured by Newshub shows police taping off the scene and a number of police staff speaking with what appears to be the liquor store staff.

In a statement to Newshub, a Hato Hone St John spokesperson said two rapid response units, one manager and one ambulance attended on Friday.

"We assessed and treated one patient who transported to Middlemore Hospital in a moderate condition."
