A container truck has crashed causing tonnes of glue to spill across a busy Auckland road.

Shortly before 8am on Wednesday, the truck crashed on Roscommon Road and rolled onto its side, spilling the glue over a South Auckland highway onramp.

Police said there were no injuries and Fire and Emergency are working to clear the spillage.

The southbound on-ramp from Cavendish Dr to SH20 was closed, as is the left southbound lane on Cavendish Dr under the SH20 overbridge, Waka Kotahi said.

Motorists are advised to expect delays for all traffic through this area until the spillage is cleared, which could take "some time", the transport agency said.
