Police have arrested one person who was found inside an onsite portaloo at a construction site in West Auckland's Henderson on Monday night.

Police said they were notified of a person unlawfully entering a commercial building site on Millbrook Rd about 12.40pm.

A remote motion detection camera onsite sent an alert to the property manager, who contacted police immediately.

Senior Sergeant Damian Albert said police found the person hiding in an onsite portaloo.

"He's certainly found himself in a very interesting position," Albert said.

The construction site had also been the target of a burglary three weeks earlier, in which thousands of dollars' worth of tools were taken, police said.

But they said they were yet to determine if the two burglaries were linked.

A 22-year-old man will appear in Waitakere District Court on Tuesday, charged with unlawfully being on a property and a warrant to arrest for an unrelated matter.
