Two motorcyclists dead after separate crashes in Auckland, Waikato

One motorcyclist died after crashing into a power pole just outside Auckland today.

Police were called to the intersection of Beachlands Road and Whitford Maraetai Road about 4.40pm after the crash.

The intersection is a major roundabout in the area, which is east of Auckland city.

The motorcyclist died at the scene, police said.

The road will be closed for several hours.

A second motorcyclist died following a single-vehicle crash on Pukekawa Churchill Road in Pukekawa in the Waikato this afternoon.

Police were called to the crash about 2.25pm.

Both crashes are under investigation, police said.
