Motorbikes have been impounded and one person arrested after a large convoy of gang members crossed through Auckland on Tuesday.

The gang members were in the city to accompany the funeral procession of former Hells Angels president Doug Jay.

Extra police officers were deployed from across Auckland to monitor activity as the procession made its way from the Hells Angels headquarters in Mt Eden to Papakura.

Police made it clear earlier that they had "zero tolerance" for bad behaviour.

In an update on Tuesday afternoon, Inspector Richard Sami of Auckland City Police said the operation monitoring gang movements had wound down.

Two bikes were impounded and one person was arrested following a checkpoint in Papakura. "A number" of infringements were also issued, Insp Sami said.

"Police placed expectations on behaviours from the beginning and there were minimal issues to deal with today," he said.
